Starfield May Update Includes 60 FPS Mode on Xbox Series X, Custom Difficulty Options and More!

Starfield didn’t exactly have the best launch last year, which isn’t uncommon for Bethesda titles. Over the last few months though, Bethesda has released a series of updates to address common complaints and added new features both mechanical and technical. Now, the Starfield May Update is upon us and includes tons of extra features, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Framerate Target: 30, 40, 60 FPS or an uncapped mode for VRR displays is coming to Starfield. If you don’t have a VRR display, you’ll have the ability to choose from 30 and 60. Additionally, you can choose between Visuals and Performance modes.

  • Updated Surface Maps: Surface maps have been improved with the addition of terrain markings. Players can also see markers in real time for improved navigation. These will reveal locations for vendors and other points of interest.

  • Customizable difficulty options: Players will be able to tailor Starfield’s many systems to their liking now for instance how food and environmental hazards. You can see these in detail below.

You can read the breakdown for the upcoming patch here. The update is available now in Steam Beta and for everyone else on May 15th.
